You are considered a transfer student if you’ve completed at least 12 credit hours of college-level work after graduating from high school. Transfer students may apply for admission for fall, spring, or summer semester. If you are considering transferring to Lincoln College-Normal you will need to:

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0* from the previous college(s) attended,
  • Be eligible to return to the previous college(s) attended,
  • Provide official transcripts from the previous college(s) attended.

*Applicants who are on academic probation at their previous institution(s) will be considered by the ARC Committee for provisional acceptance, and in most cases a personal statement, interview, and/or letters of recommendation will be required.

Which credentials are considered?

  • If you’ve completed more than 24 credit hours at the time you apply, your previous college academic record is reviewed.
  • If you’ve completed fewer than 24 credit hours at the time you apply, your high school transcript, ACT test scores, and previous college academic record will be reviewed. Emphasis will be placed on your college academic record. We also accept GED scores (if you are a non-high school graduate).

In order to receive consideration for transfer admission to Lincoln College-Normal, we recommend that students present a strong record of college study by having a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. It should be noted, however, that requirements may vary depending on the academic program of choice.

Will Your Credits Transfer?

Lincoln College-Normal works very closely within the guidelines of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) to make sure that most coursework will transfer seamlessly into other IAI schools.  Students transferring out-of-state have access to their academic advisors who can help them decide on an appropriate course of study to best suit the transferability of their courses into other states.
